“You were made to rise . . .”
That phrase struck my heart as I was driving home from church today. There is a song by Danny Gokey called Rise – and it was blaring in my car!! I absolutely love his music!! Here are the lyrics.

While I listened to this song, my thoughts took me back to when I lost my brother to leukemia. After walking through a cancer battle myself, I have wrestled with some really hard questions trying to find meaning out of this life and death thing. Once again, trying to make sense out of my loss and pain, I reminded myself how my brother believed in Jesus as His Savior and now he is with Him face to face. Aaron’s life on earth has ended, but he is now in heaven . . . forever . . . no longer here with us . . . but with Jesus . . . where I will be one day too. Then a phrase in the above song pierced my heart

Rise to be with our Creator!
The ultimate goal of our existence.
To be with the one who created us.
God created us to ultimately be with Him. Yes, He created us to live on this earth . . . so that we can find Him, grow in our relationship with Him, bring Him glory and point others to Him. But He created us to BE with Him, to worship Him FOREVER. We are sinful people in need of a Savior. He gives us a choice to follow Him or not to follow and He leaves that choice totally up to us. But God created us with a longing . . . a desire for something more . . . we seem to always be left empty by the things of this world . . . they never really bring true contentment. That is because God created us to have a relationship with HIM.
While on this earth, He gives us the opportunity to come to know Him personally and to develop and grow in a relationship with Him, but this is only a preview of the ultimate relationship we will have with Him forever in heaven. He made our souls to live eternally!!
Eternally with HIM . . . so that we can enjoy His friendship and so He can enjoy us, His beautiful creation . . . forever.
Our home is not here! Our eternal home is with our Creator! The one who crafted and formed us into His image!! The One who loves us more than life itself when He sent His only Son to die on the cross for our sins. He gave the ultimate sacrifice so when we die and leave this earth, our spirits can rise to heaven and spend eternity with Him!
